Two different things get mixed up here. Claude can end a single conversation — a model-welfare feature live on claude.ai since August 2025 and in Claude Code since July — in 'rare, extreme cases' of persistent abuse; it doesn't touch your account and you can start a new chat immediately. Account suspension is a Usage Policy matter with its own listed reasons and an appeal form. Yesterday Anthropic added a rule against 'sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior toward our models,' effective November 12, while saying chat-ending stays the primary enforcement.
